Privacy policy

Billi is an expense-splitting and personal spending app made by P4 Studios (“we”). This page explains, in plain words, what we store and why.

What Billi stores

• Your WhatsApp number (to sign you in) and the name you choose.
• Optionally, your UPI ID (so friends can pay you) and a monthly budget.
• Groups you create or join, and the names and phone numbers of people you add to them.
• Expenses, items, splits, settlements, money you record as received, and budgets.
• Bill photos and payment screenshots you choose to scan or attach (kept as receipts).
• A push-notification token for your phone, if you allow notifications.
• Basic usage records: when you last opened the app, and logs of AI reads and WhatsApp messages (for limits and cost).

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your name, WhatsApp number, the college or city you type (optional) and which link brought you here. We use it only to count interest and to send you one WhatsApp message when Billi launches. Want off the list? Email us and we'll delete your entry.

Who processes it

• Google Gemini reads the bill photos and payment screenshots you scan, to extract items, amounts and UPI references. Images are sent only when you tap scan or share a screenshot to Billi.
• WhatsApp (Meta), via our messaging provider delivers sign-in codes and the reminders you choose to send. A reminder can only go to someone who shares a group with you.
• Expo delivers push notifications to your phone.
• Billi's database runs on our own server in India.

We don't sell your data or show ads. Billi never holds, moves or sees your money — payments happen in your own UPI app.

Contacts

If you add friends from your contacts, only the people you pick are sent to Billi. Your address book is never uploaded in bulk.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or on the delete-account page. We delete your personal expenses, money received, budgets, photos you uploaded and your push tokens, and remove your name, phone and UPI ID. Expenses and payments you shared with a group stay, labelled “Deleted user”, so your friends' balances don't change.

You can also export your data as CSV files from Profile → Export my data.
